For years, the Biden administration denied this honor, treating her as a political inconvenience rather than what she was: a woman who served her country in uniform.
But Under Secretary of the Air Force Matthew Lohmeier has now written to her family, acknowledging that the earlier decision was wrong.
After reviewing the facts and weighing new information, he admitted that Ashli Babbitt deserves the recognition her service earned.
This isnāt just a paperwork change. Itās an admission that the political vendetta against January 6th participants went too far ā that even the dead were not spared from punishment.
Babbitt was an unarmed veteran, yet Washington tried to erase her, to make her memory disappear.
And they denied her family the honors given to every other veteran who wore the uniform with distinction.
Now, thanks to relentless pressure and a change in leadership, the truth has broken through.
Ashli will finally be laid to rest with the dignity she earned.
Make no mistake ā this reversal exposes the cruelty of the Biden administrationās original denial.
Ashli wasnāt just a protester. She was a patriot, a woman who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, who risked her life for America.
Whether or not you agreed with her politics, her service and sacrifice deserved respect.
And letās not forget: if her name had been different, if she had been marching for a cause approved by the Left, we all know she would have been treated as a martyr from day one.
Instead, her death was mocked, her family vilified, and her service dishonored.
This decision cannot erase the injustice she suffered, but it finally gives her family ā and millions of Americans who saw what happened ā a measure of long overdue respect.
Ashli Babbitt will receive the honors of a U.S. veteran.
And no amount of spin from the media or the political class can change that.
Rest easy, Ashli. America remembers. RIP.
