Under federal rules, the following can count as “ID” to register to vote:
Utility bill
Bank statement
Rental receipt
Not proof of citizenship.
Not even necessarily government-issued ID.
That doesn't just violate common sense, it's dangerous.
It's a wide-open invitation for noncitizens to register.
Because it doesn’t verify who should be voting.
It doesn't enforce the law that only citizens can vote in American elections.
The SAVE America is common sense legislation that requires proof of citizenship to register to vote via:
☑️ a birth certificate
☑️ a U.S. passport
☑️ Naturalization papers
If these documents cannot be provided, the registrant may sign an affidavit.
Pass the SAVE America Act!
